Brantley Gilbert didn’t ease into his September 26 show at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. He and his crew came out swinging, with a surge of sound, smoke, and pyro that hit the stage with enough force to make the whole crowd lean in.
With support from Jay Webb, the night kicked off with a rocking set that fit right into the night’s energy. John Morgan followed with a bit more traditional country sound, giving the crowd a different flavor before Gilbert took the stage. Both were strong openers, and neither was done for the night.
Gilbert’s Real American Tour hit hard with smoke and bursts of pyro, but the best part of the show was watching him connect with his band and them with each other throughout the set. They played off one another, shared moments across the stage–and there was no doubt that they were having good time. That kind of chemistry reaches beyond the stage and you could feel it in the room.
Gilbert kept that vibe going when he brought both Webb and Morgan back out to sing with him. He gave them their moment and made them part of the main event, turning an already great show into a night that included his support artists and the crowd was there for it.
The crowd was with him all night, and Gilbert kept the energy high throughout most of the evening. He slowed down for “You don’t Love Her Like I Do, “and a cover of “When I’m Gone” by Three Doors Down.” But these are fan favorites and they sang along.
Gilbert’s stop in Verona delivered exactly what a concert night should: music that hits, a stage full of energy and the feeling that the people performing were loving every minute of it.
