When you go to a Shania Twain concert you know you’re in for a huge show. When you go to a Shania Twain concert during her retirement tour, you know you’re going to see the biggest show around. On August 19th, fans gathered at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, to view the final spectacle that is Shania Twain’s “Rock This Country Tour.”
The show began with the unconventional headliner, New York based rock artist Gavin DeGraw. Performing an energetic set, DeGraw infused an electric energy in the crowd with his hits “In Love With a Girl”, “Chariot”, and “Best I Ever Had” – bringing himself closer to the fans, he jumped off the stage while singing his biggest hit to date, “I Don’t Want To Be.”
Letting the anticipation build, headliner Shania Twain hit the stage with tour-title “Rock This Country.” With a huge stage production rivaling that of any ‘80s arena rock bands, the entire concert was top notch with pyrotechnics, fog, various video screens and images. Being a true master of her craft, Shania dialed down the production to fit certain songs – during “No One Needs to Know,” she hopped on a stool and played her own guitar.
And the night had no shortage of highlights. Gavin Degraw returned to the stage, joining Twain to perform the duet “Party For Two” from her Greatest Hits album. To create shock and awe, Twain performed her hit song “Up!” while on a flying mechanical bull, rotating 180 degrees above the Honda Center.
Not to be outdown by DeGraw’s crowd interaction, Twain performed “Any Man of Mine” while walking through the crowds, even pointing out a little girl and her mom dressed in the same outfits. Throughout the night she signed autographs and touched the hands of everyone in the front row. Mentioning the struggles she has encountered in her career, Twain ended the night with a heartfelt thanks to the fans for their support.
Shania Twain has always put 100% effort in every aspect of her career, from recording songs to her concert tours. Having announced earlier this year that she is retiring from touring and the “Rock This Country” tour would be her last, her parting gift to her fans in Anaheim proved to be well worth the wait. Make sure to catch one of Shania’s final tour stops at a town near you.
