In a night filled with anticipation and high expectations Danielle Bradbery, Brett Eldredge, and Thomas Rhett hit it out of the park. The Boots and Suits tour was one of Kansas City’s most anticipated country concerts of 2015 and it has been since the very moment it was announced. Fans were exstatic to hear that Brett and Thomas were teaming up, and who doesn’t love watching the lovely and charming Danielle Bradbery, as she continues to blossom as an artist? The event sold out quickly and left fans across Kansas City entering every giveaway and contest local radio stations could throw at them in hopes of scoring a pair of tickets for the big night.
Living up to such high expectations can be a daunting task, but these three made it appear effortless. Throughout the sold out arena you would be hardpressed to find anyone that could honestly report being disappointed. In fact as we walked out that evening the only debate we heard at all was between a group questioning weather or not the two gentleman of the evening are legitimately the genuine, caring, good-hearted, loyal men they appear to be on stage, to which we emphatically replied “YES” and assured them there was no doubt that was the case. After some back and forth jabs of “See I told you so!” and the women of the group teasing that they still don’t believe there are any men on the planet that are actually that wonderful, smiles spread across their faces as they thanked us for the confirmation and continued their exit. Undoubtedly having a wonderful evening and also clearly finding joy knowing the artist they look up to are worthy of their praise on countless levels.
The night included the artists singing some of their top hits such as: “The Heart of Dixie”, “Beat of the Music”, “Don’t Ya”, “Make Me Wanna”, and “It Goes Like This” in addition to more recent favorties “Die a Happy Man” and “Drunk on Your Love.” The looks on the fans faces showed their love of seeing the popular singles performed, and the venue was filled with a chorus of voices as the fans joinged right in belting out the well known tunes. Moments like those make concerts memorable not only for audience members, but for artists as well and that night it left each artist taking time during their individual sets to tell of their love for performing in Kansas City and their appreciation for the fans they have established there. Brett even went as far as to claim it as his favorite city to play.
The entire show presented one amazing moment after another, but some spectacular highlights of the evening came when Danielle joined Thomas on stage to perform “Playing With Fire” and later Brett and Thomas returned to the stage for an entire set featuring the two of them performing a variety of cover songs including “Gold Digger”, “Neon Moon”, and “Real Good Man,” all of which were performed as part of the conversation happening on stage as Eldredge requested some honest to goodness advice from Rhett about finding the right girl. This ultimately lead to loud screams and cheers when Rhett began his answer by ensuring Eldredge he was convinced there were many worthy candidates right there in the crowd. Throughout this part of the evening both men appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves as they danced and joked around the stage. There was an obvious comraderie between the two artist, and the respect between the two shone as their friendship was displayed front and center.
Later in the night, the most genuine and humble moment came shortly after audience members presented Thomas and Brett with custom Kansas City Royals’ Jerseys embroidered with the artists names on back. Creating an instant erruption from the crowd as the arena was filled with the signature “Let’s Go Royals!” chant. After giving tremendous thanks and walking around the stage proudly holding their jerseys up allowing fans to take advantage of the unique photo op, the two men stopped and whispered back and forth before Thomas turned back to the gifting giving fans and quietly and humbly asked “Do We Get To Keep Them?” It was a moment that touched audience members hearts and in that moment you could see that these two men haven’t let stardum go to their heads, and they were truly appreciative of the thoughtful gift and all the support they receive from their fans.
Ultimately it was a fantastic night marked with enormous musical talent, impressive stage settings and light shows, and fans that just couldn’t get enough. All of those things and many more made for this standout concert event, but most touching of all was the genuine graciousness shown by the artist and the chance for an entire venue to see “Yep, they’re some of the good guys!”
