We Just Watched Brooks & Dunn Turn a Midtown Parking Lot Into Pure Magic

Y’all. We did it. Bucket list officially checked. Brooks & Dunn pulled up to the parking lot at Losers Bar and Grill in Midtown last night and turned a random Tuesday into one of the best nights of music we’ve had in a long time. They sounded incredible—like, still-got-it, better-than-you-remember kind of incredible.

The whole thing was a total surprise. They dropped the announcement on social media the day before: free show, first come first served, celebrating 35 years of Brand New Man. So of course people lined up for hours. Doors opened at 5:30pm, the lot filled up fast, and the early birds scored free Brooks & Dunn hats made just for the night. We were not early birds. No hat for us. Still worth every second.

They hit the stage just after 7:30pm and went straight into “Brand New Man.” From there it was all the ones we wanted: “My Next Broken Heart,” “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone,” “Ain’t Nothing ’Bout You,” “Play Something Country,” and that moment when “Neon Moon” started and every phone went up. Kix even busted out the harmonica on “Rock My World,” which was chef’s kiss. They closed it out with “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” (yes, people actually danced) and “Only in America.”

At one point Kix said something that stuck with us: they’ve been trying to get off the bus for 35 years, but we won’t let them—and thank God for that. That pretty much summed up the whole night. Two legends still out here playing for a few hundred of us in a parking lot like it was the biggest show of their lives.

This little pop-up came right after they’d wrapped most of their Neon Moon Tour dates, and just before Brand New Man gets its very first vinyl pressing (already sold out, of course). They’re also getting the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award next month, which feels exactly right. Looking ahead, they’ve got Australia dates in March 2027 (including Sydney and Melbourne) plus some festival stops back in the States—check their full schedule at brooks-dunn.com.

We loved every bit of it. If you were there, you know. If you weren’t… well, now you know what you missed. (And if you want to see the vibes, here’s our Instagram post from the night.) Nights like this are exactly why we keep showing up.
