The Zac Brown Band are notorious for being a bit rambunctious in their sets and their performance at the
Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland, CA on October 17th was no exception – every ounce of this showcase demonstrated true showmanship with enthusiasm, energy, and audience acclaim.
Kicking the night off after newcomers Muddy Magnolias opened the show, ZBB ascended the stage with their heavy-hitting single “Sweet Annie,” sparking a mass sing-a-long of thousands that would continue for the duration of the evening. It was amplified during chart toppers “Chicken Fried” and “Toes.” The intensity of the crowd was contagious, resonating throughout the arena and adding to the enjoyment of band and fans alike. The band even tapped into their inner rockers (possibly from the influence of collaborating with Chris Cornell and Dave Grohl) with a cover of Pearl Jam’s “Black.”
Adding to the ambiance of the night, ZBB did not hold back when it came to their theatrics. During the performance of “Castaway,” a song from their newest album Jekyll + Hyde, the stage became a tropical paradise with a beautiful picture of an island displayed in the background while colored confetti rained upon the crowd. The interaction between band and fans was plentiful as well. Band members descended down to the pit to shake hands, give out guitar picks, and, adding quite a humble and romantic touch, hand out roses during “Loving You Easy”. Fans were also entertained with a cover of “Broken Arrows,” which is featured on Avicii’s new album Stories. But what was especially impressive was how much the supporting band added to the experience. Playing on an additional second stage to support the array of instruments, each member of the ensemble radiated fun and professionalism, heightening every song.
The night closed with the band’s current hit “Homegrown,” ending the show with the same chill feeling that started it.
