There’s something magnetic about discovering an artist before the world fully catches on. That’s what it felt like sitting down with rising Alabama-born country singer Myles Morgan at the Barefoot Country Music Fest. His down-to-earth charm, infectious smile, and rock-tinged country vocals immediately mark him as one to watch.
“Country music is cool again.”
That’s how Myles describes the genre’s current explosion in popularity—and he’s not wrong. With TikTok and streaming opening new doors for artists, Morgan sees this moment as a golden one: “It’s awesome that we have so many outlets now to be able to start careers.”
But don’t mistake his quick rise for overnight luck. His journey from the baseball field in Birmingham to the bright lights of country stages is anything but accidental. It all started with a simple guitar outing with his dad—
“He randomly said, ‘I want to go get a guitar.’ So I went and got one the next day too.”
From there, Morgan hustled. His first gig came unexpectedly at a Cinco de Mayo show at Jenny Lane Steakhouse in Orange Beach. He only knew eight songs. He needed forty. So he got to work.
“I just kept playing along the coast.”
From honky tonks in Gulf Shores to college gigs at the University of Alabama, Myles built his sound—and his fanbase—gig by gig, chord by chord.
Now he’s got original music under his belt, including his debut single “Nobody’s Fault But Yours.” That’s the song that opens his set—and for good reason.
“It just hits different. It’s rockin’ and heavy and it gets people into it.”
When asked what he hopes festivalgoers remember, Morgan’s answer was simple:
“That they had fun. If people have fun, they’ll want to come back.”
