By now, everyone knows (or at least should. Lol) that Jerrod Niemann and I have a history. And this is spanning a good six years! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone in concert as many times as I’ve seen Jerrod. And there is a reason why: it started off with a gesture back in 2011 that I’ll never forget.
So I found out about Jerrod on his birthday (yup, not kidding) back in 2010, but we really didn’t start talking that much until the year after when he was on tour with Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton.
We literally talked almost every day on twitter. If I still had the tweets I could tell ya, but my notifications won’t let me go back five years.
So about a month after I moved down to Texas, I decided to go back up to Kansas City because I really wanted to see Jerrod. Dale Carter (former voice of the Kansas City Chiefs and a radio dj at 94.1 KFKF) invited me to a private lunch-in (there were like 8 other people there too). Of course I was not going to decline that offer!
So, the day of the lunch in I had no clue what to expect. And I had nooooo idea that Jerrod was going to call me out in front of EVERYONE (oh it gets funnier!)!
So Jerrod walks in the room, doesn’t miss a beat, points at me and says “oh I know you!” But it wasn’t until he told me to change my twitter name (which was @BSFan24 at the time, then of course got changed back to @flybaby014563). I was so embarrassed!!
So Jerrod sang a few songs, we chatted, took a photo and that was it.
But as my friend Tracy was driving us back to a friends house, her tire blows a flat and we got stuck in a ditch.
So while Tracy is calling a friend to come and get us, I then got a tweet from Jerrod! He was really happy he got to see me. And then I told him what happened and literally within like two seconds he tweets back “oh sh*t , are you ok?!” I replied and told him that we were fine and that one of Tracy’s friends were on their way to help. Then Jerrod replied back saying he wish he could come and help us, but he didn’t have his jeep with him.
At the time I couldn’t believe he said that. Because not many artists would take the time out to help a couple of stranded fans. And even though he wasn’t able to, he still cared to make sure that we were ok. And that to me is a great gesture of kindness.
The night Chris Young seen the tattoo of him on my arm.
