AND MATT DRAGSTREM TO JOIN HOST CRAIG WISEMAN IN THE WRITER’S ROUND
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mason Ramsey, the 11-year-old who gained Internet fame from a viral video of him singing Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” in an Illinois Walmart, has been added to the 14th Annual Stars for Second Harvest benefit lineup on Tuesday, June 5 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Also added are award-winning Big Loud songwriters Rodney Clawson (“I Saw God Today”), Chris Tompkins (“Before He Cheats”), and Matt Dragstrem (“You Look Like I Need a Drink”). Ramsey and songwriters will join previously announced headliner Jake Owen and artists Jillian Jaqueline and Morgan Wallen.
The night of music is presented by O’Charley’s, with stage sponsor Nissan North America and is hosted by acclaimed hit songwriter and founder of Big Loud Records and Big Loud Shirt Craig Wiseman. Discovered performing in an aisle at his local Walmart, Golconda, IL bred 11-year-old Mason Ramsey has captured the world’s attention. As the youngest major label country artist – signed to Atlantic Records and Big Loud Records – his breakout single, “Famous,” is currently rocketing up the Country charts, sold an impressive 100k+ copies and launched into Billboard’s all-genre The Hot 100.
Rodney Clawson has written singles recorded by Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Faith Hill, George Strait and Luke Bryan, among others. In 2008, he received a Song of the Year nomination from the Country Music Association for George Strait‘s number 1 single “I Saw God Today.“ Since 2002, Chris Tomkins has co-written songs for artists such as Jake Owen, Daughtry, Shelly Fairchild, Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line, and Tim McGraw. Tompkins has won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song, first for “Before He Cheats” sung by Carrie Underwood in 2007, and also for Underwood’s 2012 song “Blown Away.” Matt Dragstrem achieved his first #1 single, “Sippin’ On Fire,” by Florida Georgia Line, and in 2016, Justin Moore’s “You Look Like I Need A Drink” topped the charts. He has also had cuts by various artists including Jake Owen, Blake Shelton, and Tim McGraw.
