The Budding Young Star Donates All Proceeds From Single “Lucky Me” To Support Kids Affected By The Water Crisis In Her Hometown Flint, MI
Tegan Marie Debuts At The 2016 CMA Music Festival
NASHVILLE, TN – 12-year-old singer-songwriter and viral country music sensation Tegan Marie has shown a passion for philanthropy throughout her bright young career and on June 5, presented a check for $9,253.41 to Hurley Children’s Hospital during the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon broadcast live in her hometown of Flint, MI. The funds were raised in part from the April 7th benefit concert in Flint, presented by NASH FM 95.1, and featuring Tegan alongside country music star Granger Smith. Additionally, she is donating all of the proceeds from her current single “Lucky Me” to the cause.
“One of the biggest problems we are facing right now in Flint is that we don’t know what the long term effects are going to be from the water crisis, especially to the children,” said Tegan Marie. “As a Flint native, I wanted to step up and do something for my community. I am so grateful that Granger Smith joined forces with Sweety High, NASH and me to help benefit the Hurley Children’s Hospital. This is just the beginning of how I plan to help.”
Beyond her Flint fundraising work, Tegan Marie made her CMA Music Festival debut on the Radio Disney Country stage Saturday, June 11th from 1-2pm. She will embark on a busy summer of dates, including opening slots for Hunter Hayes and multiple radio appearances. The charismatic youngster continues to win hearts (and score online views in the millions) with her pitch-perfect interpretations of hit songs like Kelsea Ballerini’s “Love Me Like You Mean It” – which led to her performing the track while being accompanied on guitar by Ballerini herself. In between tour dates, she keeps busy writing and recording songs that display a talent far beyond her young age, as demonstrated in late 2015 with her holiday single “A Christmas Tree,” which was featured on SiriusXM, Radio Disney, Pandora, and more.
Tegan Marie was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan, a suburb of Flint, in 2003. She picked up a guitar at 6, wrote love songs at 8, and was playing national stages by 11. Her sweet, clean vocals and sensitive interpretations have tween and teen girls across the nation clamoring for more, and she was recently discovered by girls media company Sweety High after she shared her videos on their site. In their words, she is “your new obsession.”
