On Sunday night (6/3), Wade Bowen and the Bowen Family Foundation hosted the 20th Annual Bowen MusicFest at McLane Stadium’s Touchdown Alley in Waco, TX. More than 7,500 fans turned out to hear some of today’s biggest country and rock artists and to support the Bowen Family Foundation, which has raised more than $3 million for local charities.
Presented by Shiner Bock, the event featured headlining performances by REO Speedwagon, Midland, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Jason Eady, plus a star-studded “Wade Bowen & Friends Jam” featuring Joe Nichols, Aaron Watson, Josh Abbott, Randy Rogers, Roger Creager, Cody Canada, William Clark Green, Radney Foster, Suzy Bogguss, Stoney LaRue and Kevin Fowler.
Due to Wade’s recent vocal surgery, he recruited his oldest son, Bruce, to kick off the much-anticipated “Wade Bowen & Friends Jam” with a special rendition of his dad’s famous tune “Sunshine on a Dreamer.” The event was a true family affair, with Wade’s brother-in-law Cody Canada also bringing his two sons on stage to perform guitar and vocals for a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction.” The group of jam session artists all returned to the stage to close out the show with a lively cover of The Beatles’ “Revolution.”
