2016 is turning out to be a big year for RCA Nashville recording artist Chris Young – hot off the heels of both a major tour announcement and performing in front of roughly 75,000 people, Young awoke on Sunday, May 1st, with the #1 song in the country for his duet with Cassadee Pope, ‘Think of You.”
Coinciding with the 10th year anniversary of winning the televised singing competition Nashville Star and securing his record deal, ‘Think of You’ is Young’s 8th Number One single (‘Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),’ ‘The Man I Want to Be,’ ‘Voices,’ ‘Tomorrow,’ ‘You,’ ‘Who I Am With You,’ ‘I’m Comin’ Over’). This is Young’s second consecutive #1 off of his latest album, 2015’s I’m Comin Over.
And outside of the major success of ‘Wasting All These Tears’ and ‘Invincible,’ this breakthrough is Pope’s first #1 hit, securing her position as a powerhouse vocalist in country music. Pope’s appearances on Young’s I’m Comin’ Over tour, supplemented by their incredible performance at the ACM Awards last month, has greatly helped the success of the single – fans get to feel the sheer magnitude of artistic perfection when the two perform onstage. And Young and Pope must feel that their collaborations just fit – not only have they been writing together, but Young announced backstage from the Stagecoach Music Festival that Pope would be joining him on the road this fall/winter, along with Dustin Lynch and Dan + Shay.
In the event you have not heard the hit (which I’m sure is not many), you can take a listen below and catch our review, predicting it to be a number one, here.
