Raised in Fayetteville Georgia, surrounded by writers and musicians on all sides, Zach is emerging as one of the most exciting young voices shaping where country music is headed. His breakout songs like Wannabe Cowboy, Slow Down and Spinnin’ have earned millions of streams, and his new EP Happy For You has positioned him as an artist whose authenticity is not only refreshing but necessary.

Zach describes his family like only a writer could.
“I got rednecks and alternate weirdos and the best of both worlds in one family and I love it.”
His grandparents played classic country. His dad and cousins introduced him to rock, R&B, and indie alternative. The result is a sound rooted in the heart of country but carried forward by unexpected influences.
He fell in love with the storytelling of country music and the instruments that sit at its core. But when it came to production he knew exactly what he did not want.
“I am not super interested in the copycat country fried versions of songs. I like to put my own indie rock spin on it.”
You hear that blend immediately. Real country bones with an indie atmosphere. Sparse production that lets lyrics breathe. Melodies that feel both nostalgic and modern.
The Writing Gene and the Moment He Knew
Zach grew up around writers. His grandmother was an English teacher. The influence stuck.
“The only part of school I was good at was English. I could write. I could do that better than anything else.”
Even when he had a job he genuinely liked, his mind wandered.
“I was sitting there at work zoned out. And that was how I knew it was not what I was supposed to be doing.”
What he wanted to be doing was writing. And eventually performing. The writer in him never stopped pushing him toward the life he has now.
The Morgan Wallen Call That Changed Everything
It sounds like a myth, but it happened exactly this way.
Morgan Wallen discovered Zach on TikTok.
“They called me on a Tuesday and we had to be in Phoenix on a Friday. Three days to prepare. It was a pressure cooker.”
He was thrown into stadium sized crowds with no ramp up and no time to overthink. It stretched him. It taught him. And it transformed his team.
“People see how much fun we are having on stage and we are. But they do not see everything that has to happen right for you to even get on stage.”
He credits Morgan’s crew with setting the standard he now wants to build into his own operation. Hospitality. Professionalism. Kindness. Excellence.
And that experience gave him something else.
A quiet unshakeable confidence.
Why Less is More in His Music
In an era where production often leans loud and layered, Zach keeps stripping things back.
“Every record we ask what we can do less of. Each one gets more sparse. People are done with the bells and whistles. They want real.”
Minimalism also ensures the live performance matches the record.
“I want people to get to a show and hear exactly what they hear on their headphones. Or better.”
It is a philosophy that works. His songs land harder because they have room to breathe.
The Story Behind Space
I told him the truth. Space hits me like soft eighties nostalgia fused with an indie heartbeat. The crack whoosh of the drum. The pulse. The atmosphere.
He grinned and let me in on the secret.
“That whole song was written in forty five minutes after a red eye from London. I listened to Sam Fender’s People Watching the entire trip.”
He walked off the plane exhausted from two weeks of European festivals. Cities. Trains. Planes. Noise. He wanted silence. He wanted open air. And that is exactly what fell out of him.
“It has the same chord movement. Different song. And itt came fast. That is how I know it comes from God. Songs get given to you when they get given to you.”
And that magic shows. Space is a standout track because it feels like it arrived fully formed.
A Full Album Is Coming
Fans can celebrate. He confirmed it.
“A hundred percent next year. We are working hard. More music. The album is coming.”
January is set aside entirely for writing. He is recording more songs next week. The focus now is the next story he wants to tell.
“It is all about the song. You can have lights and players and everything. But if you do not have the song people scream back to you it is not worth it.”
He is entering this next season centered and clear.
What He Does When He Finally Gets a Day Off
His downtime is simple and pure.
Cooking.
“If I can smoke wings on the green egg, make chili and watch football all day–that is the perfect day.”
Being outdoors.
Hunting. Fishing. Being Outside.
And recently? Golf.
It is how he resets. It is how he steps away from the whirlwind.
The Grand Ole Opry Invitation
This was the moment.
“That was the coolest call of the year. That is what I came to Nashville to do.”
When he shared the announcement online and his voice broke into tears I nearly cried too. January 24th he will step into the circle where legends have stood. It is the moment every country artist dreams of.
And he has earned it. As a true fan, I am so damn proud.
