Nashville, Tenn.— Following the release of his most recent album, Horse Named Texas, which was named one of Saving Country Music’s Most Anticipated Albums in March, independent country mainstay Aaron Watson lets his playful side take flight with the release of “Dolly Parton Pinball Machine,” the first single from his forthcoming album, The S.O.Bees Volume 1, a retro-inspired passion project that captures the humor, swagger and tongue-in-cheek storytelling of country music’s golden era.
“Dolly Parton Pinball Machine” pairs whitty lyrics with nostalgic imagery, transporting listeners back to the golden days of arcade games, neighborhood Pizza Hut game rooms and the kind of everyday memories that inspired classic country storytelling. The song sets the tone for the album’s vintage spirit and catchy charm.
“The S.O.Bees sounds very different from anything I’ve ever done before. It’s very vintage and inspired by the mid-’60s to mid-’70s era of country music,” said Watson of the new project. “These are songs I’ve written over the last 25 years that just never made it onto any of my other records, but they’re songs I’ve always loved and believed in and I’m thrilled they finally have a home!”
