Nashville, TN –– “An Aaron Watson tune is solid, sturdy, well crafted, dependable…like George Strait…above all, he is authentic,” proclaims Texas Monthly, and his latest effort, “Run Wild Horses,” is proving the songsmith’s staying power at country radio, where it was the #3 most added single this week on the national Mediabase chart, pulling in support from markets coast to coast.
Fans and critics agree that the self-penned homage to his wife of 15 years “turns the heat way up” as “R&B overtones dominate a sultry, guitar and fiddle-heavy arrangement that practically reaches out to dim the lights itself” (Taste of Country). Watson shared the lyric video with his fans via socials on Tuesday, the single’s add date.
The tour in support of new album Vaquero continues to heat up with a slew of sellouts already under Watson’s belt in 2018, including a record-breaking attendance in Midland, TX earlier this month. The successful start to the year puts Watson in great company, earning a slot in the coveted Top 100 on Pollstar’s most recent “Global Concert Pulse,” which ranks each artist by average box office gross per city worldwide. He’ll be heading to the Northeast next week, highlighted by a Texas Independence Day show in New York City (3/2) and back out west in April for Stagecoach in Indio (4/29). Aaron Watson wrapped 2017 with a Top 10 on the national radio charts with his self-penned “Outta Style.” At 50 weeks, the hit single shattered a Billboard record, marking the longest trek to the coveted spot in the history of their Country Airplay Chart. The Texas troubadour ended his banner year with his album Vaquero earning one of the 10 biggest album debuts of the year in country music and a number of “Best Album of 2017” nods, including Whiskey Riff and the No. 1 spot on Taste of Country’s year end list, proclaiming the project “a rich collection of cowboy poetry.”
