NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Amanda Cooksey’s bubbly pop-country persona shines through in the music video for her newest single, “In Denial.” Filmed right outside of her hometown in Florida, the video amplifies the 50’s inspired melody, written by Cooksey and her co-writers Michael August, Austin Nivarel and Steve Lester. The idea behind the video was inspired by Cooksey’s own experience and that period after a breakup when it can be hard to accept that the relationship is actually over. Watch the video here.
“The idea was to throw my metaphorical ‘baggage’ into the ocean and forget that my heart was ever broken. I think one of my favorite details in the video is the ‘if found please do not return to Amanda Cooksey’ tag on the luggage I was carrying. I am so grateful that Kolby Copeland was able to capture what denial looked and felt like to me in this video and can’t wait for people to see it,” said Cooksey.
“Cooksey shot the video on the beach in Florida, and honestly between that and the 50s vibes of the song – it’s what we need after a year of corona (and not the good kind).” – GotCountryOnline.com
With multiple degrees from Belmont and the University of Florida, Cooksey understands the business side of music as much as she excels in the creative. She has seen success with previous releases, including “Yo Mama” and “What’s His Name,” both of which have been supported by Spotify and the former Radio Disney Country. Also, her cover of Louis Tomlinson’s “Just Like You” was praised by Tomlinson himself and featured by Glamour Magazine online.
