American Idol Alum Alex Miller Mourns Loss of Grandfather, GB MILLER

Services Set For Wednesday, July 6

“Granddaddy was the first one who really believed in me and my music.
I won’t ever forget that.” – Alex Miller

Nashville, TN – American Idol alum and rising Country star Alex Miller is mourning the loss of his beloved grandfather, GB Miller, after his sudden passing on July 3 at the age of 75. “Granddaddy was my best friend and he taught me so much,” Miller notes. “He’s the reason I do what I do, but he also taught me how important it is to be a good person and what it means to be good to others. He also made sure I knew what working hard was really like. His passing has devastated me and my family.”

An open visitation will be held today from 5-8 p.m. Eastern at Grace Fellowship Church, 2294 US Hwy 27, Stanford, KY. On Wednesday, July 6, a public memorial service will be held at the Church at 11 a.m. ET. The remembrance will stream live on GB’s Memorial Page.

Despite Alex’s busy touring schedule, he and his grandfather still made time for each other. In March, the Country singer and GB visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Music City. June 12, at the Sunday Mornin’ Country concert, GB was able to see his grandson perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage – a lifelong dream for the two Kentuckians. Miller introduced the world to his granddad during his American Idol audition, which featured clips of the two on GB’s Lancaster, Kentucky farm. Alex’s “Don’t Let The Barn Door Hit Ya” music video, which included most of his immediate family, was filmed there as well.

Following the services for his beloved granddad, Alex will return immediately to the road; his next show is scheduled for Friday, July 8 at the Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Emmetsburg, IA. “GB put me on stage when I was seven years and old and, as he would want, I’m still planning on honoring all my tour dates,” Alex states.

Upcoming performances include state fairs and major festivals, opening for Brooks & Dunn, Jamey Johnson, Niko Moon and others, and Alex will headline at venues ranging from intimate club settings to casinos. The young Country star’s current single, “Through With You,” is in the Top 40 on the Billboard Indicator Chart, and he’s logged 15 MILLION-plus TikTok views to date.
