Nashville, Tenn. – Over the last year, Andrew Crawford & Brandi Colt have gone straight-ahead Bluegrass while releasing multiple songs. They’re continuing to build upon that momentum with the brand new single, “Wabash River” – available now via Bonfire Music Group. The must-hear anthem was co-penned by critically-acclaimed songwriter Brink Brinkman alongside Tresa Jordan. Fans can download and/or stream “Wabash River” HERE.
The single showcases the powerhouse vocals of South Carolina native Brandi Colt. Accompany that with harmony vocals of Andrew Crawford, and the result is a mid-tempo tune that showcases a newer side to the couple. Its lyrics detail a hometown story of a girl named Katie who lived in the Hoosier state of Indiana along the Wabash River. In true Bluegrass fashion, it’s filled with several twists and turns throughout.
“‘Wabash River’ is my favorite kind of song: a story song with a fun chord progression that sits perfectly in that slow pocket,” says Crawford. “We were extremely excited and honored when Brink Brinkman offered us this tune that he co-wrote with Tresa Jordan.”
In case you haven’t heard, the dynamic duo of Crawford and Colt are bringing an uplifting twist to the high lonesome sound of Bluegrass and Country music. They are set apart by Andrew Crawford’s high energy flat picking guitar and Brandi Colt’s soul-stirring voice, making them an absolute Appalachian treasure. It was a very natural connection after the pair have shared the stage over the years opening for bands like The Kentucky Headhunters, Little Texas, Sunny Sweeney, Kayla Ray, Clint Park, Josh Morningstar, 49 Winchester, Wolfpen Branch, American Aquarium, and Billy Don Burns at numerous venues and festivals around the country.
The latest release is part of the duo’s upcoming project – set for release at a later date. Fans were treated to the first taste with the lead single, “In This Dirt,” then the follow-up “Gamblers and Gypsies,” and the spring 2023 effort “All I See Is You.” Their powerfully haunting harmonies accompanied by their moving approach to songwriting is helping to keep the spirit of traditional Country music and Bluegrass alive.
