NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising artist Ashley Cooke releases brand-new single “Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night,” debuting in the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Country chart and No. 15 on the iTunes all genre chart. This release marks the first of three songs produced by Grammy nominated producer Jimmy Robbins to be released this spring via Back Blocks Music. The mid-tempo song brings a new take on a break-up as the singer looks for a ‘Sunday morning’ kind of healing in the throes of heartbreak.
“This song takes back to the days in South Fla. when I’d drive windows down in my Jeep, blasting country, chasing a sunset down by the water,” shares Cooke, who was raised between the coasts of Calif. and Fla. “It’s got a reminiscent sound that connects me back to the reason I fell in love with country music in the first place.”
“Sunday Morning Kind of Saturday Night,” written by Craig Wiseman and Matt Roy, is the follow-up track to Ashley’s poignant hit “Jealous of the Sky” which was written about her best friend who lost his battle with cancer. The song connected with fans far and wide and made its radio debut on Women of iHeartCountry in Dec. 2020, followed by in-depth interview with Cooke on Bobbycast.
“This is the first song I’ve cut that I didn’t write, but it’s also the first outside song I’ve heard that told my story so authentically,” continues Cooke. “My soundtrack to those drives helped me through breakups, big changes and growing up and I hope this song gets to be the soundtrack to someone else’s Sunday morning kinda Saturday night when they need it, too.”
“Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night” is the first of three tracks to be released this spring. Cooke will continue to release new music throughout 2021, with an EP release date to be announced soon. For more information, visit ashleycooke.com and follow her on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
