Los Angeles – AXS TV celebrates the life and musical legacy of country icon Charlie Daniels with a special interview & concert programming block this Sunday, July 12 starting at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
The event begins with Daniels’ intimate and in-depth conversation with legendary newsman Dan Rather on The Big Interview. Daniels invited Rather to his recording studio in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee for a candid discussion where he discussed his youth during the Civil Rights Era south, breaking into the competitive Nashville scene, his signature hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and more.
Then, the network presents a special re-broadcast of the benefit concert special Volunteer Jam XX: A Tribute to Charlie Daniels at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT. Rock and country music all-stars came together to honor Daniels at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, featuring performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alabama, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss, Travis Tritt, Sara Evans, Jamey Johnson, Blackberry Smoke, Oak Ridge Boys, Billy Gibbons and more.
The block closes out with Daniels’ appearances on Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar as he joins the Red Rocker for an acoustic jam session at 2:15 p.m. ET/11:15 a.m. PT and TrunkFest with Eddie Trunk where Trunk catches up with Daniels at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming at 2:45 p.m. ET/11:45 a.m. PT.
