Best Live Music Venues in Nashville

Whether it’s your first time in Nashville or you’ve lived here for years, there is no denying that the following venues are must visits if you are looking for the best ambiance and music in one.  Which venues have you visited? What others should have made the list?

The Ryman

The Ryman
The “Mother Church of Country Music.” Everyone loves to praise the historic Ryman Auditorium.  Legends and newcomers alike have filled the building for the past decade unbound by genre and welcoming for everyone.  See a show or at least take a tour!

Exit/In

In the heart of the country music capital, Exit/In stands as an edgy little venue opened in 1971.  It was where Jimmy Buffet got his start; where a young Red Hot Chili Peppers enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal; where everyone from the likes of Avril Lavigne to The Ramones to Death Cab for Cutie to Etta James to Talking Heads performed. Check it out!

Mercy Lounge

Named a top venue by Rave Reviews, the Mercy Lounge has been attracting top talent from all over the world. Located on Cannery Row, the surprisingly large venue has hosted the likes of Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg and The White Stripes.

Bluebird Cafe

So inconspicuous that you might miss it, the Bluebird Cafe is one of the most sought-after spots in town.  Located in a tiny strip mall in Green Hills, songwriters of all calibers play to at-capacity crowds nearly every night.  You never know you might show up, but grab tickets quickly!

Marathon Music Works

This industrial chic venue has hosted some of the most fun shows in town.  Located only 5 minutes away from downtown, Marathon Music Works is equipped with multiple bars, delicious food options and the highest quality audio for every genre including rock, hip-hop, indie and country.

Station Inn

Located in the heart of the Gulch, Station Inn is home to some of the best folk and Americana music the city has seen.  For more than 40 years the venue has hosted icons such as Bill Monroe, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss and John Prine.  It’s a great stop for the roots lover, but as they say “good music is good music” so check the calendar for all kinds of music coming up!
