NASHVILLE — Rising country singer/songwriter, Johnny Dailey, released his autobiographical debut, Dillashaw, today, Friday, March 4. The six-track collection deepens Dailey’s catalog, further cementing himself as a breakout artist in the genre as noted by Billboard’s inclusion of the Alabama native on their 2022 Artists to Watch list. Aaron Eshius (Ryan Hurd, Scotty McCreery) served as the producer on all the tracks except “24,” which features a production nod from Daniel Ross (Gabby Barrett, Lauren Alaina, Mitchell Tenpenny). The EP serves as a tribute to his upbringing – the namesake of which is heard in his latest single “Trouble,” Tailgate kicked back, holding onto you under a Dillashaw moon, referring to the creek that ran behind his childhood home.
Alongside previous singles, Dailey offers two brand new tracks including “Friends, Farms and Fords” and “Bonnaroo,” an aptly titled tune about the notable Tennessee festival and fading summer love. Altogether, the resulting EP provides an inside glimpse into Dailey’s life while simultaneously peeling back the layers of his story in rural Alabama and the lessons he lives by to this day. His use of vulnerable songwriting and personal lyrics are paired perfectly alongside captivating melodies that leave the listener begging for more.
“This EP is a connection to my hometown. It’s where it all started for me so that’s where my music had to start,” Dailey said. “I’m excited to share a glimpse into my growing up in Alabama with these songs.”
While he grew up in the town, Argo, outside of Birmingham, Alabama, Dailey landed in Nashville by way of Charleston, South Carolina, where he honed his craft as a songwriter and played his original songs up and down the city’s infamous King Street. Dailey released his debut single, “Burns Like Whiskey” in 2021 followed by “Driving Things Around” and “24,” garnering over 1 million streams on Spotify alone and establishing over 130,000 monthly listeners. In January 2022, he inked a global publishing deal with Endurance Music Group. He has performed alongside the likes of Old Dominion and plans for more shows in the near future.
