Watch Hit Single on CMA Fest Special on ABC This Wednesday (8/8)
NASHVILLE, TN – ACM Awards New Male Vocalist of the Year Brett Young earned his fourth consecutive chart-topper today as “Mercy” summited the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Brett and Sean McConnell co-wrote the “favorite among his dedicated fanbase [and adding to] his No. 1 habit”(Tennessean), joining three consecutive No. 1 Country Airplay releases. The heartfelt ballad also reached the PLATINUM-sales benchmark and bolsters his catalog to over 1 billion in total streams.
“We knew pretty early that ‘Mercy’ had to be a single because of the way the fans respond when I played it live,” Brett said. “I wrote this song from a really vulnerable and honest place, so to see it go No. 1 is really special.”
Brett will perform “Mercy” this week on “CMA Fest,” the Music Event of Summer, on ABC this Wednesday, August 8 at 8:00PM ET / 7:00PM CT. Billboard called the live appearance at the annual event in June a “standout moment.”
Brett’s “soothing, approachable” (New York Times) self-titled debut album on BMLG Records became an instant success upon its release in 2017, dominating the Top 20 on the Country Albums chart for 37 weeks, quickly reaching RIAA PLATINUM certification. Delivering four consecutive hits, Brett became one of Country music’s new class of hitmakers as each single climbed to the top of the charts. Along with the success of his songs, Brett’s music videos have added steam with “In Case You Didn’t Know” surpassing 196 million views and “Mercy” spending six consecutive weeks atop Vevo’s Top Country chart. Drawing in a devoted fan base with his unique voice that is “a gentle and seductive combination of silk and gravel”(All Access), he has carved out his own lane in both performance delivery and songwriting. Named as the only Country act on Billboard’s Top 10 New Artists, Brett continues to impress the genre and beyond with nominations from the ACM, Billboard, Teen Choice, CMT and CMA Awards. Above the industry successes, his relationship with fans found Brett selling out every single stop on his debut headlining CALIVILLE TOUR and earning new followers on the road with Thomas Rhett’s LIFE CHANGES TOUR 2018. He will headline Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium for the first time on October 10. For additional information, visit brettyoungmusic.com.
