On October 2, rising Canadian country artist Dustin Bird released his first single “Every Little Town” from his debut EP The Hard Way. Today, the CMAO Rising Star Nominee is following that release with the song’s corresponding video, recorded at the famed Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, ON.
“Growing up in small-town Ontario, the story of “Every Little Town” both personal to me and all too familiar to a lot of people that I know,” explains Bird. “We recorded this song live off the floor, and I think that’s part of what makes it so special. It really hits home.”
“Every Little Town” tells the familiar story of love in a small town and what lies beyond. With lyrics like, “…there is a highway headed to the coast, and tail lights leaving someone alone…” directly tugging at the heartstrings. Bird brings those feelings to life in the passionate performance video.
“I miss being on the road and playing for country fans, and for me, shooting this video and recording this song live brings back some of that energy. I hope it can do the same for those watching & listening.”

Bird was inspired to write, produce and record his debut EP The Hard Way in a live off the floor format, backed by an all-star band. The entire project was recorded at Catherine North Studios, a former century-old church and the same beautiful location the video was filmed. The full record will be released in early 2021, with singles being released throughout the Fall of 2020. It will also include a studio single destined for Canadian country radio in 2021, along with additional bonus material.
Bird has had 5 Top 100 Canada Country National Airplay singles in the last 12 months as writer, producer and artist. As a songwriter, his growing publishing catalogue includes songs such as ‘When They Were Us’ recorded by American Idol alumi Lauren Spencer-Smith, and ‘Hotter Than Summer’ released by Brian John Harwood, which is currently charting in the Top 100 Canada Country National Airplay. The Hard Way follows up his latest project, ‘Together, We’re Strong’, which Bird co-wrote and produced featuring artists such as Aaron Prichett, Alee, Jason McCoy & Jason Blaine. The single and accompanying video received significant media attention across Canada. The effort is a fundraising campaign for artists affected by COVID-19 through the Unison Benevolent Fund.
