Chase Sansing Covers Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie’s “We Are the World” to Raise Awareness of Homelessness in Nashville

Nashville, Tenn. – Rising young country artist Chase Sansing has released a music video to raise awareness of homelessness in Nashville. The remake of Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie’s megahit “We Are the World” was filmed throughout Nashville by Sansing himself.

The touching music video also features local Nashville musicians Kelsey Malone, Justin Shaw and Rae Cecil trading verses similar to the original USA for Africa video released in 1985.

“I chose to rerecord ‘We Are the World’ because I wanted shine a light on the issue of homelessness in Nashville,” states Sansing. “While our local economy is growing, there are many people being left behind and I really want to do all I can to bring awareness to this problem.”

In 2017, there were over 2,300 homeless people living in Nashville and that number continues to grow each day. The video incorporates footage of local homeless individuals living on the streets of Music City.

“It’s impossible for me to sing something I don’t feel, which is why my videos usually have an emotional pull on them. Kelsey, Justin, Rae and I all agreed this is a very important issue we all believe in. There are thousands of homeless people out there. If we all lend a hand, maybe we can help them.”

Rae Cecil stated, “Music has always had a special way of bringing people together. I wanted to be a part of this project to bring awareness to the needs we have locally so that people can unite and serve the community together.”

Justin Shaw adds, “music is one of few things that can touch a soul and I’m so grateful and appreciative to be a part of this project to maybe open up the eyes of our community.”

Kelsey Malone mentions: “The Nashville homeless issue is real. And it’s sad! With a timeless classic like ‘We Are The World’, hopefully people will be reminded of what we can do when we come together and maybe even get excited about helping to make Nashville a better place.”
