Last year, Chris Lane and his wife Lauren Bushnell decided to foster a dog, but fostering quickly turned into adopting when the Country artist and Cooper met. “Lauren brought Cooper home to foster for a weekend, and he was there when I got home from being on the road. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise when I walked in the door,” says Lane. “But, we fell in love right away and decided we had to keep him. Now, it’s hard to imagine life without him.”
Now the dog-dad is helping save more animals by teaming up with pet food company Merrick to spread awareness about its ‘BBQ 4 Good’ campaign, which launched last week and runs through July 4. Animal shelters have taken a huge hit from COVID as not only has pet adoption rates dropped to an all-time low, but financial donations have also plummeted. “Shelters need our support now more than ever, says Lane. “That’s why Merrick is encouraging us to order on DoorDash to support dogs in need this summer. It’s also helping out the restaurant industry, which has also had a lot of challenges this year. It feels great to be a part of this campaign doing so much good.”
All one has to do is support a local restaurant by ordering through DoorDash using the code ‘BBQ4Good” and Merrick will make a $1 donation* (up to $25,000) to North Shore Animal League America. NSALA was founded more than 75 years ago and is the largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization in the United States.
It’s really a win-win, or a woof-woof, situation!
