Killeen, Texas –  Nashville recording artist, Clark Hill, calls upon music community and military families to contribute to his nephew Kenneth Varnes, an active duty Engineer Equipment Operator in the United States Army, and his family’s GoFundMe campaign after a traumatic house fire the evening of October 28th leaves the Varnes’ completely at loss.

“I have consoled families who have lost everything to fires in my previous career as a fireman, but never did I see myself having to talk to my nephew on the phone and hear that he was standing outside the rubble of his entire life’s belongings,” said Hill. “Kenneth and his wife, Taylor, have spent their time building a life that all who know them could be proud of. As an active member of our armed forces, a husband, and a new father, I am beyond proud of this man. To see the possessions that he has proudly earned now tragically taken away, I hurt for him.”

Stationed at Fort Hood Military Base in Killeen, Texas, 20 year-old Varnes was previously recognized by local news stations like KXTX because of his unwavering determination to stand throughout a storm to salute the funeral procession for a military veteran.

“He is in great hands with friends that they have made in Texas and we as a family are confident in the assistance that will be afforded him via the United States Army,” added Hill. “Still, we all ask that you keep Kenneth, Taylor and their daughter Shiloh in your thoughts and prayers. Any and all assistance is more than appreciated, but just knowing that people care to make a difference has been the most humbling blessing.”

Taylor’s mother, Carley Fruish, started the GoFundMe campaign on behalf of the Varnes family in which she stated, “The funds will be given directly to Taylor and Kenneth to help them replace their furniture, household goods, clothes and nessesities. The family has received an abundance of clothes donations and are so thankful for the outpouring of generosity! They are asking that future donations be in the form of Gift Cards please.”
