Hailing from Martinsburg, West Virginia, Christian Lopez isn’t your average small town singer-songwriter. His song “Will I See You Again” has garnished over a million views on Spotify. Rolling Stone named him “Best Newcomer” at the Americana Music Festival and Conference in 2015 and most recently, as “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know” in July 2017. Last week, PopMatters premiered the track “1972,” noting Lopez’s songwriting “…grows more and more accomplished with every new tune.”
For his upcoming release Red Arrow, Lopez explored new paths with acclaimed producer Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Marc Broussard, Frankie Ballard and Eric Paslay). The record features guest appearances from Vince Gill and Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids, who lends his voice for the pristine harmonies on “Caramel.” And while his lyrics are more mature and his sound is more refined than ever, Red Arrow still radiates with the youthful enthusiasm you would expect from an artist who just celebrated his 22nd birthday.
