Nashville, TN – CMT will world premiere the debut music video of Gabrielle Mooney’s rising new single “Come On In,” Monday, October 26th on CMT Music and CMT.com at 6:00 am Eastern Time.
Mooney traveled back home to her Arkansas family farm to film the nostalgic new clip, and was surrounded by friends and family, adding to the warm authentic feel of the video.
In the sentimental new track, Mooney reminisces about the soothing comfort of home and family and the warmth of idyllic childhood memories made growing up on the farm, where the downhome life was simpler and welcoming. Directed by Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa King of Running Bear Films, the video perfectly captures those sentiments.
“We filmed everything for this video in my hometown, which is exactly what I wanted to do,” recalls Mooney. “I didn’t want to have any actors play my family, so we packed it up and went to Arkansas and filmed the whole thing with my parents, my Uncle John and Aunt Miranda and my sister Erica and her kids. We had the best time! Every single lyric in this song is based on real life, so when you see tripping over work boots while coming in the back porch, that’s because my dad was in construction and always left his boots there. I was a huge My Chemical Romance fan and we literally would sneak out onto the roof and smoke (sorry Mom) but we would do that, and that’s all portrayed in the video. Those times were just so special and I feel like everybody is going to be able to see a different side of me, because the whole video is me. Since the setting is my hometown, it was so natural and so nice to be able to express the song in a very real and raw way.”
“I walked straight into a writing appointment after being home in Arkansas,” she continues. “When I was home we had pulled out a bunch of pictures of Grandma and Grandpa Reed, and we were outside in our field, and it was kind of one of those things I was thinking about while I was driving back. I realized how blessed I was to have grown up with such amazing great parents and grandparents. ‘Come On In’ just flowed out of me during the writing session because that was how I was feeling in that moment. It’s just one of the most special songs I’ve ever written,” says Mooney.
Mooney is new on the country scene but has been writing songs for years, even co-penning the Walker Hayes single “90’s Country,” and has remained close to her famous brother Shay, of Dan + Shay, throughout the years as they both pursued their musical careers. She credits him with encouraging her to follow her dreams to Nashville and inspiring her growing love for country music and appreciation for their shared country roots. She took a winding path to get back to those roots, first singing with the family band on Sundays during her childhood years and later as a teen smuggling records from My Chemical Romance, Hinder, and Sick Puppies into the house and then joining a Southern Rock band traveling the Southeast before landing in Nashville. The hardworking young vocalist is stepping into a spotlight of her own these days with this sparking debut single and fun-filled video, which is sure to strike a chord with fans.
