Nashville-based rising country pop singer-songwriter Daisy Briggs is celebrating the release of a new 6-song EP—Nice Knowing You—which also happens to be the title of her new song and video. The song has a familiar theme for Daisy’s fans—a confident statement of self-reliance wrapped up in an irresistible twang and groove. Briggs puts on a stylish showcase in her video directed by Ryan Nolan playing her guitar, dancing and happily shaking off the toxic people in her life. It’s a poignant moment for Daisy as it was filmed in Newport, Rhode Island—the town she grew up in and a safe haven for her to return to after working through personal challenges. Her first extended-length release, the EP is a poised and exhilarating testament to personal grit and perseverance. Written and performed by Daisy Briggs, Nice Knowing You is available digitally today, May 12.
Says Briggs: “‘’Nice Knowing You’ is this song that I wrote by myself about having to move on from toxic relationships whether that be friendship or romantic. I realized that I was spending a lot of time going out and going to parties and not really taking care of myself and my mental health, and as that started to take a toll, I realized that I needed to choose myself and work on my well-being and that meant cutting out people that didn’t have my best interest at heart.
On the video, Briggs adds: “The ‘Nice Knowing You’ shoot was an incredible experience because I got to go back to my hometown and film the video with Ryan Nolan, the director, and we collaborated on ideas together. I was able to put some of my best friends and even my dad in the video. We filmed at the house where I grew up and shot all around Newport and It seemed fitting that I wrap up the EP in my hometown where I started writing my songs. This is my first full length project that I wrote entirely by myself, and my story started in Newport and a lot of the EP is about returning back to who you are after losing yourself, and, for me, where I came from had a lot to do with that.”
