No. 1 Hit Single “Drinkin’ Problem” Earns Best Country Song
and Best Country Duo/Group Performance Nods
NEW YORK, NY – Texas trio Midland is the only debut Country artist to earn 2018 GRAMMY Award nominations as announced by the Recording Academy this morning. Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson are nominees in the categories of Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their No. 1 hit single “Drinkin’ Problem.” Midland co-wrote the song with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The song, which Rolling Stone called “Solid. Country. Gold.” quickly ascended up the Country radio airplay charts this summer and was followed by the release of their full-length debut ON THE ROCKS that the Washington Post declared “the year’s best Country album.”
Midland was in the middle of rehearsals at NBC’s TODAY when they heard the news.
“The GRAMMY’s are the pinnacle of musical achievement and we are so honored to be associated with the caliber of these nominated artists. It’s beyond our wildest imagination to be recognized by our peers in this way,” said Midland.
Midland will keep the roads hot in 2018, first on Little Big Town’s The Breakers Tour with Kacey Musgraves and later in the year with Thomas Rhett.
