NASHVILLE, TN – Crystal Leigh looks at every day as a balance; taking in the good, the bad, and finding the beauty that lives in between. This frame of mind is inherently showcased in her upcoming new record, Trading Skylines. For the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, Crystal’s bright energy and passion for life is rooted in the belief that things happen as they are supposed to and, as she puts it, “I’m gonna get where I’m gonna get, when I need to get there.” Motivated by optimism, thoughtfulness, and dedication to her faith, her soulful melodies and lyrics are honest Americana.
Her breakout single from the new record, “Normal Girls,” was released today, teasing what’s to come on the full record with quirky comebacks and playful melodies. In “Normal Girls” Crystal compares herself to the women men are always talking about falling in love with in country songs and feeling that she isn’t that girl – she is too “normal.” In this cheeky track, she questions when crazy became popular and what all the “normal girls like (her)” are supposed to do.
Kicking off a larger conversation about what is “normal,” Crystal will be hosting a “Normal Girls” series via IG Live and Clubhouse that explores this idea. Almost everyone at some point has felt like they are not normal, or that they aren’t fitting the mold they are “supposed to”. Through interviews with her friends of all different backgrounds, Crystal is hoping to change that feeling and embrace the idea that normal cannot be defined.
Recorded at Yackland Studios in Nashville with Stephen Leiweke, Trading Skylines is a delightful blend of light-hearted spirit and genuine intention. The artful storytelling is an authentic reflection of how she navigates her life: appreciating the past, but always moving forward with purpose. With a soft demeanor matched by a bold sense of conviction, Crystal’s voice is influential, captivating, and rare. Ahead of her record, Crystal will release a series of singles that speak on love and loss, telling the story of how she came to trade her skylines. With the record set to release October 8th, Crystal Leigh is ready to show everyone her true, authentic self.
