Nashville, Tenn. — After the year of uncertainty, country singer-songwriter Dakota Green knows one thing for sure – it’s time for a warm beach and a cold drink. In fact, that is the name of his debut single, available now. “Warm Beach, Cold Drink” is an anthem for anyone who has been sitting at their home or office desk for the last 13 months, wishing they could be literally any place else. Listen to the tune here.
Recorded during the pandemic by producer Josh Bright, Green has been patiently waiting for the right moment to drop the pop-country single.
“I wrote ‘Warm Beach, Cold Drink’ when I quit my day job and signed a publishing deal in Nashville,” explains Green. “‘Warm Beach’ is a metaphor. It’s about going someplace that makes you happy. Relatable songwriting is important to me and I think that everyone can relate to this song on some level, especially after 2020.”
A native of the small beach town of Orange Beach, Alabama, Green packed his bags for Nashville in 2019 after an unexpected phone call from Steve Cox (Myriad Productions / manager of Collin Raye) who was serendipitously given his CD on a golf course. That phone call changed the trajectory of Green’s future in an instant.
“Dakota is a rare combination of a true singer-songwriter,” notes Cox. “He’s a great person and I am proud and thankful to have Dakota as a part of our Myriad family.”
Green got his start in music at an early age by competing nationally and has performed across the country. Green was the first artist to ever play at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, Alabama, home of the Hangout Music Festival. He hosted open mic nights at The Hangout while also playing at other popular coastal venues, including the legendary Flora-Bama and Soul Kitchen in Mobile, Alabama. He has also appeared alongside some of today’s hottest acts at music festivals such as Hills Alive (South Dakota), Ichthus Festival (Kentucky), and has opened for artists like Elley Duhe, Anthem Lights and many others. Earlier this year he was featured on an episode of CNBC’s Streets of Dreams with Marcus Lemonis, which highlighted rising stars in Nashville.
“Warm Beach, Cold Drink” is the song you listen to when you can’t take the monotony anymore. It’s the vibe you get when you pack your bags for vacation. It’s salt air and draft beer at a barefoot beach bar. It’s all about leaving your worries behind for a little while.
The song is available now on all streaming platforms. His forthcoming album, Moving On, will release this fall.
