COMING OFF THE BIGGEST YEAR OF HIS CAREER BRODY KICKED OFF 2021 WITH MAJOR MILESTONES ON 2020’s BACK-TO-BACK #1s – A PLATINUM CERTIFICATION FOR “CAN’T HELP MYSELF” (WITH THE REKLAWS) & “CANADIAN SUMMER” GOING GOLD
BRODY’S LONG-STANDING PATRIOTIC ANTHEM “CANADIAN GIRLS”
GARNERS DOUBLE-PLATINUM CERTIFICATION
Toronto, ON – Decorated Canadian country icon, Dean Brody, and the country music world’s fastest rising star, Mickey Guyton, have claimed their spot on the top of the Nielsen BDS Country Airplay and Mediabase charts, landing the #1 spot at Canadian Country Radio with their heartful duet “Boys,” from Brody’s 2020 EP by the same name. Today’s #1 is a first for Guyton and also makes her the first Black female country artist in history to hold that spot on the Canadian charts. “Boys” marks Brody’s third duet to take the top spot at country radio, following “Bounty” f. Lindi Ortega and just last summer the newly PLATINUM-certified “Can’t Help Myself” f. The Reklaws.
“Thank you, Mickey, what an exciting journey it’s been sharing this song with you,” said Brody when getting today’s news. “Your voice and passion gave heart to “Boys”, and I couldn’t be happier to be celebrating this moment with you! A HUGE thanks to country radio, our teams, and our amazing fans for making this milestone possible.”

Coming off monumental performances on the GRAMMY Awards and American Country Music Awards, Guyton has taken the world by storm since releasing her debut EP Bridges, last September. The “Black Like Me” singer made history this year as the first Black female solo artist to earn a GRAMMY nomination in a country category (Best Country Solo Performance) and was recently announced to co-host, along with Keith Urban, the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards (April 18, 2021). Today’s news has added to what has been an unprecedented year for Guyton.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating my first #1 single with Dean,” shares Guyton. “He was so gracious to ask me to join him on this song. Thank you Canadian country radio for supporting diversity.”
While only 3 months into 2021, it’s already been an impressive year for Brody. In addition to today’s #1, he has seen his 2020 smash hit “Can’t Help Myself” with JUNO-nominated brother-sister duo The Reklaws receive PLATINUM-certification in Canada less than a year after its release. Also, Brody’s “Canadian Summer” garnered GOLD-certification and his 2012 anthem “Canadian Girls” has gone DOUBLE-PLATINUM, all before the first day of Spring.
The 17-time CCMA Award, two-time JUNO Award-winning artist holds five GOLD-certified (Beautiful Freakshow, Crop Circles, Gypsy Road, Trail In Life, Dirt) and one PLATINUM-certified albums (Dirt) in Canada along with six #1s at Canadian Radio. With over 12 years of making music behind him, 30 Top 10 singles and 212+ Million Global Streams, Brody currently holds the spot for the second most-streamed Canadian artist in 2021, behind only Shania Twain.
