Nashville, Tenn. – Snatched from the country music underground, singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress premiered the striking black-and-white video for her debut single, “The Stranger,” on the 24/7 digital music channel CMT Music and CMT.com as part of the CMT Artist Discovery Initiative.

Dedicated to connecting emerging artists with a passionate new fanbase, the CMT Artist Discovery Initiative has singled out Andress as an artist to watch in 2017, a talented Colorado native who was mentored by her teacher – pop songwriting icon and former American Idol judge – Kara DioGuardi at Berklee College of Music.

Bringing a soulful, often gritty and always-personal approach to her music, Andress joins the resurgence of bold female stars in country with her heart on her sleeve.

“It’s really about being real,” she says of her style. “I want everything to be out in the open and honest.”

“The Stranger,” a rootsy piano-driven ballad full of romantic desperation, was co-written by Andress with Ryan Lafferty about a couple struggling to keep the passion of their relationship from slipping away. Directed by Lauren Jenkins, its video is powerful, dark and moody, but built on real-life emotions and buoyed by the eternal hope of true love.

“I wanted to capture the emotion of the situation and spell out how lonely people feel at that point,” Andress explains. “Even though you’re in a relationship, you feel by yourself and that was something I wanted to capture – and I love black-and-white everything. It looks really classic to me.”

“The Stranger” is now available for download across all digital retailers.
