NASHVILLE, TENN. – Hailed as “King of the Breakup Song” (Noisey), Dierks Bentley, 2-time Grammy-nominee Elle King and the team behind the #1 hit single “Different For Girls” were celebrated on Tues., October 4th at an intimate luncheon at Nashville’s Moto, hosted by ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), GMR (Global Music Rights) and Red Light Management. The song was co-written by chart-topping songwriters JT Harding (ASCAP) and Shane McAnally (GMR), and produced by Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora, Jr. Publisher SmackSongs’ Robert Carlton and Capitol Nashville/UMG’s Royce Risser were also on hand to congratulate the group.
“Different For Girls” co-writers Harding and McAnally celebrated their 5th and 19th #1 song, respectively, while the Gold-certified hit marked the 15th career #1 for Bentley and King’s first chart-topper in the country music format. The pair also appeared later that night at the Grand Ole Opry, where King made her debut performance on the Opry stage.
Dubbed as a stand out track by The New York Times, Rolling Stone, PEOPLE and StereoGum, the CMA Vocal Event of the Year Award-nominated “Different For Girls” became the second consecutive #1 hit off of Bentley’s critically-acclaimed album, Black (Capitol Records Nashville). Bentley is also nominated for CMA Awards in the Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year and Video of the Year categories.
