It is difficult to believe that with such a commanding presence in country music, Capital Nashville recording artist Eric Church has only secured five number one singles. Be that as it may, Church celebrated his latest chart-topper, “Record Year,” with family, friends, and industry personnel at BMI headquarters on October 11, 2016.
Sans his signature ballcap and sunglasses, Church displayed his affable nature while speaking in regards of co-writer Jeff Hyde – “I wrote a lot of songs with a lot of people, and very rarely do you come up against an idea that’s unique,” says Church, “and there’s no way it’s this unique. I remember when Jeff pitched out…. it was his idea for ‘Record Year.’ I thought, well, that had to have been done in this way. And was shocked to find out that it hadn’t been done. I always know when I sit down with Jeff that I’m gonna get something, gonna get something unique. Sometimes it’s bat (expletive) crazy. But that’s what makes him good.”
