This past July, Smashville Entertainment flagship artist Alexis Ebert released her latest single “Way Back In The Woods” – a wonderful retro piece of Americana-Bluegrass-Country that takes one back to the time of the Hatfields and McCoy’s with imagery of moonshine shacks hidden in the woods and cutoff shotguns. Today, Ebert is premiering the single’s somewhat eerie music video exclusively on The Country Note.
Anyone who’s a fan of the incredible film “O Brother, Where Art Tho” will notice the inspiration of the Sean Hagwell directed video immediately:
“I wanted to create a video that felt like the song. I envisioned mysterious angelic creatures sauntering through the woods; the imagery has a haunting beauty. I think it resembles the Sirens in ‘Oh Brother, Where Art Tho’. It’s about sisters, tightly knit by a family bond and their private family business—their livelihood is in their ‘spirits!’” – Alexis Ebert
Ebert and Hagwell succeeded in doing just that as the songstress is joined by three other Sirens including Hallie Rose (“Like A Country Song”) and Abby Glover (“I Am Not Ashamed”). The four women ooze not only a rebellious, outlaw character but also a bit on the witchy side, as they draw the listener in to them through the magic of their song, much like poor ol’ Pete.
