“…Modern songwriter inspired by timeless bluegrass and old-school country music…”
That’s quite the trifecta, and the perfect description of Callie McCullough.
The Southern Ontario native released her solo debut After Midnight in 2020, a 6-track EP that included a who’s who of musicians from the GRAMMY-winning bluegrass band Union Station and the incredible western-swing super-group the Time Jumpers. The release earned McCullough a 2021 CCMA nomination for ‘Best Alternative Country Album’. Recently McCullough released the EP’s latest single “Three Quarter Time” and today she delivers the music video exclusively premiering with The Country Note.
The single shares the very intimate, autobiographical story of McCullough’s arrival in Music City. As she tells her story through lyrics, the video helps provide an additional visual for fans to witness her journey:
“‘Three Quarter Time’ is the story of my years in Nashville,” says McCullough. “It’s about making the music you love despite the trends…my love of Traditional Country music and penchant for Sad songs. With the video I really wanted to bring to life the reality of playing Downtown Nashville for tips, which is an everyday reality for musicians here, but a novelty to the rest of the world…so I wanted to peel back the curtain…I thought it would be fun to show all the characters you’d find night after night in the Honkytonks and poke a little humor at the reality of tip jar gigs. We had a blast making this video…”
