Typical, No / Honest, Yes / Country to the core, Yes.
Those nine simple words are featured as a bit of a slogan on Dave McElroy‘s website, and they ring true. He’s honest, growing up on the authentic storytelling of country greats like Kenny Rogers. He’s drawn inspiration from the raspy and iconic voice of the legendary trumpet player Louis Armstrong which might not bet typical of most country artists, but McElroy pays no attention to the limits of genres. And there’s no doubt this Wisconsin native is country. His latest single “Bulletproof” is out now and to help celebrate, McElroy is premiering the music video exclusively with The Country Note today.
“This song is about the way an “everything girl” can make a man feel,” says McElroy. “An “everything girl” has it all and makes a man feel 100 times bigger than he is. This song, produced by Bridgette Tatum, is about a guy that has a girl like this and somehow doesn’t know it. Love from a girl like this makes a man feel bulletproof, like nothing can bring him down, and like he can do anything.”
The video features McElroy singing the song’s heroic lyrics at a bar while witnessing a hostile interaction between a woman and her boyfriend. Being the gentleman he is, McElroy then proves that he won’t stand for such disrespect.
“We shot this video with Ryan Hamblin and the Brainstem team, and I love the way that it turned out.”
