Music has always been a universal communicator. It can speak the words we cannot find, can make one smile, laugh, cry (sometimes all at once!) and bring together people in a crowd the size of a sold-out stadium to a family car ride. And while this applies to all forms of music, it’s specifically true when it comes to country music; a genre founded in the story and the emotions of a song. What better way to weave that cloth of emotion into the younger generation than with an album of educational family-friendly country songs, or rather two! Growin’ Up Country Vol. Two, available June 28, follows last year’s debut of Growin’ Up Country Vol. One and features a roster of country artists including Runaway June, John Osborne (of Brothers Osborne) singing with his wife Lucie Silvas, High Valley and more. Georgia native Andrew Jannakos’ contribution to the album, “These Are The Days”, premiers today exclusively with The Country Note.
“When I was asked to be a part of this project, I got super excited,” says Jannakos. “Having an eight year old son, I think that it is an amazing opportunity to be able to write country music that kids can listen to. Getting to be one of the artists on this project means not only a lot to me, but also to my son.”
“These Are The Days” is the perfect song that not only teaches a child the hours in a day and the days of the week (with a catchy beat) but a beat that is contagious that adults can’t help but sing and dance along to. The lyrics tell the story from the point of view of a kid getting ready to head to school, ready to learn something new every day and not taking these days for granted.
I got 24 hours in a day
Wake up, get dressed, I’m on my way
Finished all my bacon and my eggs
Grab my backpack, boots on, can’t be late
Tick-tock, minutes on a clock
Time goes by and the world don’t stop
It goes..
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – Five days of the week
Saturday, Sunday – Those are the fun days
Stayin’ up late, ain’t gettin’ no sleep
Singin’ oh, oh, oh these are the days
Singin’ oh, oh, oh these are the days
