As the country music genre continues to expand, Alt Folk/Americana artist Rachael Sage has found her niche within. Her upcoming record The Other Side will be available on July 21st but for now, we encourage you to savor her latest single, the title track of the record “The Other Side” premiering exclusively with The Country Note here.
The song was co-produced by Sage and Grammy® winner Andy Zulla and longtime engineer Mikhail Pivovarov. Sage, who is on tour in the UK right now, reflects on the song, “This is my favorite track on this record. It is about connecting with both yourself and your loved-one(s), without judgment and with a sense of unconditional acceptance. My hope is that this song encourages people to slow down just long enough to relish where they are right now.” Brimming with hope and optimism, this is the perfect tune to hum along too as we kick off another glorious summer.
Sage has a rich musical history of releasing vibrant, dynamic albums. The New York-based singer-songwriter has toured with an eclectic list of artists including Ani DiFranco, Beth Hart, Imelda May, Howard Jones, and Grammy® winners Shawn Colvin and Judy Collins, with whom she also recorded a critically-acclaimed duet of Neil Young’s “Helpless.” Sage has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, SXSW, and toured globally from Japan to Berlin with her band, The Sequins. You can find a list of her upcoming shows here, which includes Joe’s Pub in New York City and a sold-out show in Beacon, NY opening for Rufus Wainwright.
A visual artist as well, Sage’s art has appeared in galleries across New York. Her colorful and often whimsical paintings are featured in her videos and the upcoming artwork for her album artwork for The Other Side. You can see some of her recent work at the gallery on her website.
