Don’t write off Blaine Holcomb because he’s a native New Yorker – country was and is a way of life. Spending his time upstate hunting and fishing while being raised in a blue collar family, Holcomb grew up on Haggard, Whitley, Jones and Singletary. Picking up his guitar at the age of 11, he taught himself how to play, starting with none other than “Mama Tried.” Since forming a country cover band in college, the now Nashville resident has opened for some of country’s biggest names – Easton Corbin, Justin Moore and Josh Thompson – and has performed his way down Broadway and beyond. Set to release his third single tomorrow (6/10), Holcomb is exclusively premiering “What It Comes To Love” today with The Country Note.
A mix of 90s country with a modern edge, Holcomb pays tribute to the styles of Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks as he sings of real love – that kind of strong love when you found the right person.
“I wrote this with my good buddy Jabe Burgess,” says Holcomb. “It was one of those songs that didn’t take long for us to write, which is unusual for us because we normally spend all day on a song. But we finished this one in just a couple of hours. It’s a fun song to sing. Just a feel good, uptempo, country love song with a little bit of 90’s country vibe.”
