Since hitting the radio airwaves in 1989, Dallas Wayne has worn many hats throughout his career, including that of an actor, voice over artist and music producer. But while a majority of his time has been spent behind the mic as a DJ (morning drive on KHYI 95.3 FM in Dallas, Texas and host of SiriusXM’s ‘Willie’s Roadhouse’ and ‘Outlaw Country’) he’s also made his mark on Country music as a songwriter and singer. Earlier this year the Springfield, Missouri native released two singles “I Hit The Road (And The Road Hit Back)” and “He Even Brought Her Flowers” (featuring Bill Anderson)” both off his upcoming album Coldwater, Tennessee available this Friday, April 22. Today, Dallas continues to let fans in on what’s to come on the new album with “Under the Overpass” premiering exclusively with The Country Note.
“The song ‘Under the Overpass’ is reminiscent of the classic country theme of lost love, telling a timeless tale that reminds us how quickly life can unravel,” said Dallas. “I got the idea for the song while sitting at a stoplight in Austin, TX, and locked eyes with a homeless man holding a weathered cardboard sign that simply said ‘Help.’ The homeless population in America has grown over the past few years. Each one of those faceless people have a story to tell. As the song says, they are more like you than you’ll ever know.”
Previously released on his 2005 album I’m Your Biggest Fan, “Under the Overpass” is one of those songs that Dallas holds near and dear, earning a spot on his new album. “The idea for the Coldwater, Tennessee album came about while looking back on some of my favorite songs that I’ve written over the years. It’s always nice to visit with old friends.”
