Alt-country Katie Cole has been keeping herself beyond busy during the pandemic. Throughout the quarantine, the Nashville-based, Australian-born Cole has been staying in close contact with her fans by featuring themed StageIt shows – 60s, Girl Power, 80s, and more. A week or so before the concert date, she asks her fans what they want to hear her cover – no limits – and she gets to work learning the songs she may not already know. By the time the show comes around, Cole sounds like she’s been performing the tracks her whole career – with a range of requests from Blue Oyster Cult to Sarah McLachlan to The Beatles to Blondie to Patsy Cline and so on. Switching hats, Cole has also been working with Smashing Pumpkins, where she is a regular on tour playing guitar and keys, and recently lent her vocals on their new releases.
Cole has also added to her own catalogue with her latest single “Hands Tied” exclusively premiering today with The Country Note. Cole’s beautiful classic yet modern vocals carry a sense of melancholy at the realization that no matter how hard you try to protect your heart after being hurt, the chance for new love tends to win. “[Hands Tied] is about falling in love again despite yourself,” explains Cole. “After a break up, it’s always easy to say that you’ll never fall again, or won’t put yourself back out there again to be hurt…. But this about it happening to you regardless. So there’s internal struggle. Knowing it’s a good thing, but being pretty scared at the same time.”

Be on the look out for the music video! Working again with Doltyn Snedden of DS Creatives, who has directed both of Cole’s videos for “Graceland “ and “Mile in My Shoes,” the “Hands Tied” video is expected to be just as exquisite as the previous two.
