There are songs that deserve to stand alone, allowing the music and lyrics to take the full spotlight rather than share it with other songs on a track list. As Katie Cole explains, her latest release “One More Time” is one of those songs. Without having to compete with other songs within an album, we can truly listen to the moving ballad’s piano and background gospel vocals, we can picture the lyrics, and we can feel the song as its meant to be.
“When I’m releasing new material, I’m very conscious of songs potentially being overlooked. And I didn’t think “One More Time” should be on an album for this reason. It should stand on it’s own as a bittersweet notion about what happens during a break up. The easy part is deciding it’s over. The hard part is actually saying it’s over.” – Katie Cole
Listen to the exclusive premiere of “One More Time” below:
“[One More Time] was a song I recorded with others after Things That Break Pt. 1. But to me, it has always been something more,” says Katie. “It’s a song I feel like I’ve always known. I wrote this with Sam Brooker, who also co-wrote “I’m Gonna Love You”, so it’s an old school soul/ballad genre. It was Howard Willing that suggested we add a baritone guitar solo. To bring in a more Americana feel. I love it.”
