In October 2018, Kayla Ruby made her entrance into country music with the release her debut single “Never Really Know Somebody.” At only 18, the song maturely touched on relationship truths of thinking you know someone until their true colors are shown. Now, 18 months later, the Texas born, Colorado native is back with another step into the waters of relationship honesty with her new single “I Wish I Was Crazy” available today and exclusively premiering with The Country Note.
Ever been in a situation where your gut is telling you something that you suspect is true but you wish so badly that it was just your imagination, even thinking that you were crazy to think such things? Ruby’s new single addresses that exact feeling in regards to a cheating relationship, but as she shares, it goes deeper than that:
“To me, “I Wish I Was Crazy” has two meanings,” says Ruby. “The first is definitely heartbreak. I have personal experience with grappling with the idea and reality that someone is cheating. But it’s also a song about moving forward and realizing that you’re worth more than you think. That feeling that there is hope and strength and growth through pain is what really drew me to record this song and make it my own.”
