There are times when one has so much going on that heading out with friends to party is the exact distraction that is needed. Then there are times when one doesn’t need to distract from anything, but rather just take a moment, or two, to stop and enjoy life. That kind of good time is front and center in Mark Elliott‘s new single “Drunk For Nothin'” premiering exclusively today on The Country Note.
While gettin’ drunk just to get drunk seems to be a fairly common theme in country music today, Elliot gives the desire to let loose a more suitable reason to pursue: “It’s not always about celebrating or partying,” says Elliott. “It’s not always about chasing the blues away or healing a heartbreak. Sometimes it’s just about kicking your feet up, letting life be what it will be, and getting “Drunk for Nothin’.”

Elliott has been penning songs for himself and others since he was a teenager, including Neal McCoy’s “Every Man for Himself,” and for the past five years he has been a staff songwriter for Music Therapy of the Rockies (MTR) which helps military veterans suffering from PTSD via songwriting. MTR holds retreats around the country, including four stops a year at Amy Grant’s Nashville farm, providing a weekend program of music therapy. During the retreat, the veterans are paired with hand-picked songwriters to write their story, and then perform the song for family and friends at the end of the weekend.
“Drunk For Nothin'” will be available across digital platforms starting tomorrow, November 12. Pre-Save/Add here: https://soulspazm.ffm.
