Because of her personal and relatable songwriting, Molly Lovette posses a gift for naturally connecting with her audience: they can place themselves in her songs while the lyrics can be their own thoughts. This ability to connect has led the Missouri native to catch the attention of the press and fans since releasing her latest single “Lovin’ You” on March 20, which has led to over 408k streams of her catalog on Spotify alone.
“Lovin’ You” hits hard for anyone who has gone through a sour breakup and the feelings that followed. “I was coming off a breakup at the time and was still in that bitter stage,” explains Lovette. “I always write how I feel in the moment and at that point I was thinking that honestly, I just wished the whole relationship had never happened. There were good times of course, but in that moment the bad outweighed the good, and that is where the song was born.”
The relationship Lovette has with her fans is special and she wanted to thank them for their support while creating another layer of the song. Obviously a music video would be the perfect way to add a visual to the story, but due to the pandemic, a full production crew was not a possibility. However lyric videos can be just as effective, if not stronger, in getting the feeling across on screen and today Lovette is releasing her official lyric video for “Lovin’ You” premiering exclusively with The Country Note.
“We shot this video in my hometown of St. Louis with producer Lauren Hayes of Lauren Hayes Media. As much as I would have liked to do a music video for this song, we had to work within the COVID-19 guidelines. Plans change, but I love how this turned out and can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
With a single rose in her hand, Lovette stands among petals scattered on the ground – perhaps from the rose her ex would have held – and sings with expressions further exposing her emotions. Details that really drive home the bitterness of the break up. (Also, as one reads and sings along, be sure to take note of the special effects on certain lyrics 🥃🔥).
