On September 28th, 26-year old Ryan Lindsay released his introspective acoustic album The Ride; six incredible tracks that showcase his love of country and his honesty in reflecting about his personal struggle of rediscovering oneself. Today, the Alberta Prairies native is releasing an acoustic performance video for the track “Hill To Die On,” premiering exclusively with The Country Note. This video is the first of six videos in an exclusive series to accompany each track from The Ride.
The viewer is introduced to Lindsay as he strums his guitar alone at the top of a hill, all of nature’s beauty surrounding him. From the first lyric, Lindsay’s nostalgic vocals ooze traditional country. Accompanied by only the strum of the guitar puts those vocals front and center as he tells an intimate story of never giving up:
“‘Hill To Die On’ is a story about a deep connection to place,” says Lindsay. “It was inspired by some friends of mine who lost their homestead in a forest fire a few years ago. In one instance after the fire, my friend Dave was up on a hill chopping wood and examined the rings on an old tree to discover that it had an old burn mark. It had survived a fire years ago, and lived to tell the tale. If the tree could survive a fire, he thought, so could they. They have since stayed and just finished rebuilding their homestead this year.”
