Coming off their sophomore record Horseshoe Lounge, Colorado country band The Barlow is back with a more personal, and somewhat stubborn, album New Year, Old Me. As noted by bandmate Shea Boynton, “New Year, Old Me is a nod to those who never change, for better or worse. While there’s a few narrative pieces, the songs are mostly based on personal experience. This record is a definite step towards our sound and what we do. Instead of comparing things to others’ sound or style, we aimed to make it our own.” Included on the album is the introvertive “Heart In A Sling,” premiering today exclusively with The Country Note.
“This song was written for somebody who on the surface seems oblivious, lost, riddled with bad luck, and instead has a deeper understanding of what their life is,” says Boynton. “We really aimed for a spacey vibe with a solid backbeat. Hope you enjoy it!”
